Welcome to Fourth Class
We have two fourth classes in our school. Our teachers are called Mr Moreton and Ms Bardon. In our page you will find lots of different information about what we do as well as links to fun and educational websites. Please have a look at our galleries to see what we have been up to in our classes.
We have had a very busy two months in 4th class since the start of the 2016/2017 school year. The children have settled in very well since the summer holidays and have been exceptionally welcoming towards our four new class members Sophie, Grace, Belinda and Seán!
Last week, Leah in our class played for St. Finian’s in Croke Park! Although our Girls’ football team lost their match on the day, they played a great game and made us all very proud. There was great excitement in the lead up to the match and my class had a fabulous day out cheering them on. We spent all of Friday afternoon creating decorations, banners and posters to bring with us and we also decorated the walls outside our classroom in red and green!
September and October saw so much action in our room. We’ve been very busy writing diary entries, creating comic strips, painting pictures, making spiders, reading stories, learning our Irish verbs, revising multiplication and division, singing songs, running relay races, learning about waterfalls, monks and of course the history of Hallowe’en. No doubt the children were ready for their week off school and will be full of energy upon their return!
My classroom was full of fancy dress costumes last week from witches, werewolves and cats to Pokémon, footballers and penguins! Thank you all so much for all your kind donations on the day. The children completed a fashion show in the hall for the 3rd and 4th classes and afterwards they played some football and danced to music. November will be very busy for the children. We will be learning all about The Celts and The Vikings, completing Family Trees, writing up weather reports and mock-weather forecasts and doing experiments about magnets among other topics. A basketball coach will come in once a week to teach us lots of new skills, starting from Monday 7th November. I will also be collecting the MS Readathon money and sponsorship cards from 7th November.
I’m really looking forward to meeting the parents of my lovely class. Please let me know if the time/day that is allocated to you does not suit and I will try my best to work around your schedule. If you have any worries or concerns ahead of these meetings, or even later in the year, please do not hesitate to contact me to arrange an appointment.
I hope you all had a lovely Hallowe’en break. Check out the photos of the girls and boys in their fantastic outfits and our trip to Croke Park!
