Eco-Schools is operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) whose main partners include the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
We are busy preparing for our Biodiversity Trail that we are aiming to create in the village and the school.
It will bring you on a short walk around Newcastle and the school and will highlight different flora and fauna that Newcastle has to offer.
We are really looking forward to showing it off, although it may be mater rather than sooner if the cold weather keeps up!
We decided that we need to audit our new school. We found out that some of the estates in the area are not serviced with a lollipop person to cross the road, we are getting on to the Council to see what we can do.
In the mean time we are preparing for the 6 Green Flag, it is all about cultural diversity and once we are all up and running we will be delighted to show off our work.
We have just received word that we have been awarded our 5th flag.
This flag is for BIODIVERSITY. We had our inspection three weeks ago and they were very impressed with our 5 star Bug Hotel and its adjoining log cabin, bug apartments and our brand new outdoor notice boards. Have a look at them at the back of the school.
We have worked really hard to achieve this so we are really proud of all the committee and all of the students and staff.
We work really hard to maintain a high standard of environmental awareness in the school.
Check out some of our pictures from our recent litter pick in the village. We help out the local RAMS group and keep the village tidy. We also help the Tidy Towns Group and try to go out into the village every Wednesday and keep it tidy.
