St. Finian’s GAA club
St. Finian’s GAA club and the school have a great partnership. The numbers in the juvenile section have grown hugely over the last number of years. The club and the school run a football blitz each year. Over the last two years, the blitz has taken place over different days due to such high numbers. The first blitz in 2012 had 70 children taking part, whilst last year’s blitz had over 200 children playing. The nursery section of the club takes place in the school hall each week.
There are over 50 children in the nursery section under 6 years of age which bodes well for the future. In 2018 the club had its most successful year for a long time for underage teams with both the under 14 boys and under 16 boys winning trophies. The majority of these two teams were all past pupils.
